The Mercer County Lady Titans soccer team has never made the KHSAA State Tournament. With loads of talent and experience returning they hope this could be the season they finally get over the hump.

Head Coach Tony Brown said they opened up practices by setting goals for the season. He thinks this year’s team has the ability to achieve all of those goals.

“I think we are going to be successful this year. This team will be a different look than the teams we have had in the past,” said Brown. “We have goals that we have set and I feel like we are perfectly capable of meeting those goals.”

The Lady Titans’ success will start with senior captain Maddie Bartley, who had eight goals and four assists last season.

“Maddie brings a little bit of everything to the team. She is just a tremendous athlete,” said Brown, who is entering his fourth year as head coach. “When she is on the field, which is almost all of the time, she just makes your team better. You can count on getting 110 percent out of her.”
