Burgin Bulldogs Ready to Take Field Under New Coach

First year Burgin baseball head coach Trenton Claunch is trying to instill a new mentality around the program, after taking over as the man in charge earlier this school year.

Claunch, who graduated from Burgin High School in 2010, is happy to be back at his alma mater, but he also wants to put them back on the winning track after the team has gone winless in their last two seasons.

“It is pretty cool to be back at Burgin. It is kind of one of those things that people talk about coming full circle. I played on the high school team here since I was in seventh grade, and now I am back and I am starting all over again, but as the head coach,” said Claunch, who played four years at St. Catharine College, where he was a pitcher.

Since graduating in December, Claunch has put all of his focus on the Burgin Baseball team in hopes of getting them back to the regional tournament for the first time since 2004.
