Bulldogs Fall to Rockcastle as they Welcome Back Alumni

Makayla Lindsey, left, and Ridge Yeast, right, were crowned Homecoming Queen and King for Burgin Friday night before the Bulldogs game versus Rockcastle County.

The Burgin Bulldogs welcomed back their alumni Friday night as they held homecoming. Unfortunately, they couldn’t come out with a win in front of all of the former students and teachers as they fell 73-53.

Before the game started, Burgin seniors Makayla Lindsey, a cheerleader, and Ridge Yeast, a member of the basketball team, were crowned as the 2015 Homecoming Queen and King.

After the ceremony, Rockcastle County came out hoping to get off to a quick start and senior Sam Pensol did just that.

Pensol, who came into the game averaging 14.8 points per game, scored 22 of his teams’ 26 first quarter points as they led 26-15 after one quarter.

Rockcastle continued their strong offensive play in the second quarter, while Burgin only had one player do much offensively in the quarter, John Price. Price, a senior, scored seven of the teams’ nine points in the quarter.

Burgin trailed 45-24 at halftime.
