Bulldogs Aiming For Better Season

The Burgin Bulldog basketball team is looking to have a better season than they did a year ago when they went 3-28. The team returns several key players which should be their strength.

The Burgin Bulldog Basketball Team is looking to have a much better season this year after finishing 3-28 in the 2013-14 season.

The Bulldogs are going to need a big year from senior John Price, who averaged 13.4 points a year ago, if they are going to have success.

Below are questions and answers with Burgin Head Coach Brian Kirk, who enters his third season as the man in charge:

Q: What are the strengths of the 2014-15 team?

A: “The experience that we gained last year is going to be one of our strongest points that we can focus on right now.

“We’ve got all the returning players that we ended the season with last year and they gained a lot of skills, although you couldn’t see that in the win and loss column.

“I think just by the experience that some of the younger players got is going to really pay off for us this season.”

Q: What are the weaknesses of the 2014-15 team?

A: “We’re undersized with most teams in the 12th region. The teams in the 12th region are strong and athletic. Our depth on the bench is another thing that we will struggle with.”

Q: What are the main things you want to focus on as a team this season?
