Former Wildcat recieves honor, recalls experience
Mercer County High School teacher Roscoe Perkins recently received the Blanton Collier Award from the Kentucky chapter of the National Football League Players Association Alumni as a member of the 1961 University of Kentucky football team.
The Blanton Collier award is given in honor of former UK football coach Collier, head coach of the Wildcats for eight seasons, 1954-61. He posted a 41-36-3 record at UK and was best known for his 5-2-1 mark against Tennessee. He went on to the National Football League and became head coach of Cleveland, leading the Browns to a 76-34-2 record (.688) from 1963-70. Cleveland won four divisional championships and the 1964 NFL title under Collier.

Former Burgin soccer coach and current camp and development coordinator for FC Indiana, a professional women’s soccer team, has brought a fresh face to the camp scene this year with a soccer camp for Boyle County youth under 10 to under 18.
